On June 25, the maritime industry worldwide celebrates the International Day of the Seafarer. This year’s IMO theme, “Carrying World Trade. Carrying the Risks.”, highlights the vital role seafarers play in keeping global trade moving while facing the many challenges that come with life and work at sea.
Every day, seafarers ensure that goods reach businesses, industries, and communities around the world. Behind every cargo delivered safely to its destination are dedicated professionals who work with skill, resilience, and commitment, often far from home and under demanding circumstances.
Around the world, many seafarers operate in regions affected by conflict and geopolitical tensions. While the JR Shipping Group does not currently operate in such high-risk areas, our crews face the realities of the sea every day. From severe weather and rough seas to busy shipping routes, fatigue, long periods away from family, and the mental and physical demands of working and living on board, seafarers continuously adapt to an environment where conditions can change rapidly.
At JR Shipping Group, we take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation for the professionalism, dedication, and resilience of our crew members. Their daily efforts form the foundation of our service and our success. At the same time, this day reminds us of our responsibility to provide a safe working environment, good working conditions, and continuous support for the physical and mental well-being of our seafarers.
Today, we recognise the people behind global trade. The men and women who not only carry cargo, but also carry responsibility, expertise, teamwork, and dedication. They are not only carrying world trade, but they are also carrying the people who make global shipping possible.

Safety and Well-being of Our Crew: A Shared Responsibility

Introducing Bazeport: Supporting Life on Board
As part of our ongoing commitment to crew welfare, we are pleased to introduce Bazeport on board all JR Shipping vessels. As part of our ongoing commitment to crew welfare, we are pleased to introduce Bazeport across the JR Shipping fleet. With the final two vessels scheduled for installation next week, all JR Shipping vessels will soon have access to the platform. While seafarers carry world trade every day, it is equally important that we continue to support the people behind the operations.
